Types of research: Qualitative: Focus groups ( Primary ) Interviews ( Primary ) Reviews ( Secondary ) Quantitative: Questionnaire ( Primary ) Internet ( Secondary ) Books ( Secondary ) Primary Research - New research, carried out to answer specific issues or questions. Secondary Research - Makes use of information previously researched for other purposes and publicly available. Qualitative Data - Typically descriptive, in-depth data used to find out how people think about a given product. Open ended questions. Quantitative Data - Data that can be measured numerically. Close ended questions (Yes/No). Common example is the Likert Scale - Responses from strongly agree to strongly disagree.
